ron saltmarsh garden design
The garden at 1675 Willow Avenue: Designing a garden
in Lake Tahoe definitely has its challenges. First off, you’ve got the area’s
abbreviated Alpine growing season. Then, of course, there’s the hordes of
hungry deer and gophers. The key: Use as many native plants as possible that don’t taste good. This design has yet to be installed, but I really love it because
it allowed me to think outside the Bay Area box. Some highlights include:
Fieldstone paths, a rhododendron walk, a moss garden, and lush perennial
beds contained within green walls that embrace the invited guests
and discourage the uninvited ones.
